Angela Wong’s Personal Macronutrient Ratio | Meal Plan

Some of us are still not sure about how to plan their meal with the calculated macro ratio. Let’s take Angela Wong’s personal macro as an example for discussion.

Her daily macronutrients ratio intake is 40g carb, 52g protein and 139g fat.

Eating a low carb high fat lifestyle it has to be delicious and sustainable, so let's keep it simple. Learn to use your visual estimation.

Begin your meal with the protein choice and amount, pair with a serving of vegetable of your choice, and then decide which type of oil you want to cook with the food or drizzle on the food.

Protein: I use the rule of 7. The average of all different kind of meat or seafood 1 ounce (28g weight) 7g protein. One egg 7g protein.

Angela’s protein intake guide is 52g (7 oz/208g weight) protein, that is about 2 and a half palm size amount, divide into 3 meals.

One egg has 7g protein, 5g fat, 0.5g carb X 2 eggs

3 ounces (84g) slightly fatty pork has 21g protein, 16g fat

3 ounces (84g) salmon has 21g protein, 10g fat

Fat: I use the rule of 13. The range for all different kind of oil/butter is around 11-14g fat per tablespoon.

Carb: I use the rule to eat mostly leafy vegetable.

Lettuce 100g = 3g carb

Spinach 100g = 4g carb

Cauliflower 100g = 5g carb

Summary of Angela’s meal of the day:

Breakfast - 2 eggs cooked in 1 tablespoon of oil with lettuce drizzle with 2 tablespoons olive oil, a squeeze of lemon juice, salt and pepper.

Lunch - 3 ounces (85g) of pork cooked in 1 tablespoons of oil, with 100g spinach cooked with 1 tablespoon oil.

Dinner - 3 ounces (85g) of salmon cooked in 1 tablespoons of oil, with 100g cauliflower cooked with 1 tablespoon oil.

Total macronutrient for the day:

12g total carb, 56g protein, 130g fat

It is OK to eat less carb. The garlic and onion added in the vegetable during cooking will add on to the carb.

It is OK to eat a little more protein if you just started, and not a diabetic.

If you didn’t eat up to 139g fat is fine too. But if you are not eating enough fat you could get hungry soon. Do not need to overeat fat either.

Summary for Angela to visual estimate her meal:

Each meal she just need to eat about one palm size of protein, cook the food with 1-2 tablespoons of oil, eating mainly leafy vegetable. Add more salt to your food, and drink water added with lemon.

So, once you figure this out and learn how to estimate portion intake, everything gets easy.

True or Not? Babies Who Were Fed More Breast Milk Will Have a Larger Brain?

What your thoughts on this? A new study, which followed 180 pre-term infants from birth to age seven, found that babies who were fed more breast milk within the first 28 days of life had had larger volumes of certain regions of the brain at term equivalent and had better IQs, academic achievement, working memory, and motor function.

“Please don't get me started on this BS. My daughter was 6 weeks premature and wouldn't breastfeed. Long story short, she just finished her Masters Degree in Microbiology and Immunology. She's uber smart, outgoing, well adjusted.” - Linda Burton Roberts

“Fair enough. However, most premies who aren't getting breast milk during those 28 days were being intravenously fed because they weren't strong enough to eat yet. So there are other factors NOT being considered in this study.” - Summer Trevor

“Bullcrap! My 1st child was breastfed for a month & my other 2 babies were on formula by 2 weeks & all academically different.” - Marie Shields

“My husband was breastfed till he was 4 n he didn't even know what IQ meant... lol I breastfed my son till he was 7 months I had to stop cuz I was put on strong meds and I had to take them they were mandatory..:/ I wanted to BF till he turned 1.” - Dayanely Palmas

“It’s the human contact not the breast milk.” - Serena Tohu

“But remember ladies, it's okay NOT to breastfeed too! It's YOUR choice” - Chanell Chanaynay Huët

“Oh really? I am a pretty academically driven person and was bottle fed from get go. Save money researching this crap and find cure for cancer. There’s a thought.” - Elizabeth Jones

“Breast milk has the needed nutrients to help with the growing process of a baby. As an infant (me) at birth under 2lbs, I was only able to digest goats milk. Everything else I was allergic to.” - Terri Oconnor

“I don't understand how that's a weird fact when breastmilk is what nature intended?” - Victoria Famiglietti

“Bull, I was breast feed and I never applied myself academically. Albeit was only for like 3 1/2 weeks.” - Derek Setina

“I was breast feed till 4 years old (I feel sorry for my mom) but I dont consider myself super smart lol” - Lilia Andrea

“Kinda also depends on genes and what mother consumes. Not all women are health conscious enough.” - Liz Hamblin

What People Say on a Priest Who Called a Swiss Couple ‘Infidels’?

A Swiss couple in the Maldives paid £820 to have their wedding vows renewed in the native Dhivehi language. When the wedding video was posted to YouTube, the subtitles revealed that the minister had actually been insulting them, calling them "infidels" and their children "bastard swine".

What people say?

“Don't you ever trust any priest of any religion, they are untrustworthy, rapists, drunkies, gold diggers, etc etc” - Enrrique Fuen Mayor

“The priest obviously cut his mouth a few times trying to eat their Toblerones? I have. Bloody Swiss and their stupid chocolate shapes!!” - Neil Grant

“What kind of "minister" would say those things? Proof of what a joke it is” - Julie Butler

“First of all, why get married in Maldives?” - Alonzo Julian Gonzalez

“The priest must have had some bad experience about weddings, maybe it's the reason why he became a priest. Lol” - Gerwen Pornea Arcillas

“If you renew your vows, do you need 2 divorces and she gets 75% of your stuff?” - Ron Van Riper

“Who uses YouTube subtitles when they can't even translate English properly?” - Zane Townsend

“So they renewed their vows in a language they couldn't understand?” - Tiffany Dellarose

“That was YouTube subtitles. They aren’t good and he probably didnt say any of that. Here is a pic of an episode of the Donkey Kong country TV on YouTube with subtitles to show you what I mean and this was translating English to English. I also once got Eggman in a Sonic forces trailer talking about the war in Iraq.” - Bill McFarlane

“To be fair the children could actually be "bastard swine". I hope that's not the case, you never know.” - John Iannone

“Well, at least they will have a story to tell the grandchildren” - Darren Ruddick

“Serves them right for not having it in a language they understand” - Darwin Jones

“Why renew your wows if you can't understand what is being said? Lol” - Francesca Frangipani

“Track down the minister and bless him with a bat!” - Patrick Leonard

The Apache, the Origin, A Warrior Tribe, and the Apache Today

Some 800 years ago, several small bands of hunters arrived in what is now New Mexico. They called themselves the Inde, meaning "the people." Over the following centuries, they would spread across the Southwest. They became known as the Apache, from the Zuñi word meaning "great enemy."

Skillful hunters, the Apache traveled alongside migrating herds of buffalo and elk. They carried their homes on their backs in the form of animal-skin tents called tepees. While the men hunted, Apache women gathered food plants, cared for the children, and prepared meals. They also made beautiful pottery and finely woven baskets.

The early Apache worshipped spirits, called gans, which they believed inhabited the hills of the Southwest. They performed dances and held festivals to honor these spirits. The Mountain Spirit Dance, for instance, called upon the gans to cure illness. The Apache believed that the mountain spirits gave them their sacred songs and dances. As part of their religion, they made special visits to certain peaks in present-day Arizona and New Mexico. Many Apaches still honor these mountains as sacred.

A Warrior Tribe

With the Apache's fame as great hunters came their reputation as ruthless warriors. In the 1700s, they led raids against neighboring tribes, as well as early Spanish settlers. Nonetheless, by the 1800s, white settlers had moved into Apache territory from all sides. The U.S. Army and government policies promoted this invasion of the Apache's land. In 1860, the army began forcing the Apache onto small reservations.

Not surprisingly, many Apaches hated their forced confinement. They longed to move freely across the land and hunt as they had for centuries. Many fled the reservations. They formed warrior bands that raided white settlements and army posts. Among the fiercest of these groups was the one led by Cochise, whose name means "firewood" in the Apache language.

In 1861, the U.S. Army captured Cochise and several members of his band. Falsely accused of kidnapping a white child, Cochise managed to escape. But five of his followers were hanged. For over a decade, Cochise relentlessly raided army outposts to avenge their deaths.

The U.S. Army finally subdued Cochise. But another band of warriors -led by Geronimo- continued to defy orders to live on a reservation. In 1882, Geronimo's band fled Mexico. From there they conducted raids on U.S. soldiers in the Southwest. In 1883, the Army forced Geronimo to surrender and sent him to a reservation in Arizona. He escaped yet again in 1885 and led a revolt throughout Arizona. His band captured 250 horses and mules, and killed 38 people.

In the terrible campaign to subdue the Apache, U.S. soldiers received orders to "kill every Indian man capable of bearing arms, and capture all Indian women and children." In 1886, Geronimo made his final surrender. This largely ended Native American warfare in the United States.

The Apache Today

Today, the Apache number more than 57,000. Many live on reservations in Arizona, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. They have begun transforming their impoverished communities with Apache-owned businesses, which include lumber and cattle companies. They also own several popular ski resorts. The Jicarilla Apache of New Mexico run their own profitable mining business. At the same time, the Apache have continued to maintain and celebrate many of their traditional social and religious activities.

The Chukchi (Chukchee, Chukotka), Who Are They?

The Chukchi (Chukchee, Chukotka) are an ethnic population inhabiting the northeastern tip of Russian Siberia. Most of the approximately 12,000 Chukchi live in the Chukchi autonomous okrug, a subdivision of the Magadan oblast.

Although all Chukchi speak the same Paleoasiatic language, they are divided into two main groups. One group traditionally depends on domesticated reindeer herds on the inland tundra of northeastern Siberia and uses the animals to pull their sleds while they follow the herds from one grazing land to another.

The other group lives in settlements along the coast and has been much influenced by the Siberian Yupik, with whom they often share the same villages. They traditionally live by hunting and by fishing.

Socially, the Chukchi are organized into bands of several, usually related, families generally characterized by bilateral descent. They believe that the world is filled with many kinds of spirits, and shamanism (see shaman) has been widely practiced. The Chukchi fiercely resisted the Russians after their first contacts in the 1600s, but by the 19th century they had been subjected to Russian rule.

The arm of the Arctic Ocean north of the Bering Strait is called the Chukchi Sea.

One Interesting Characteristic of the Sea Horse

The sea horse, genus Hippocampus, is among the most unusual in appearance of all fishes. It belongs to the family Syngnathidae and is closely related to the equally odd-looking leafy seadragon, Phycodurus eques, and the pipefish.

The sea horse's upright position, horselike head set at right angles to the body, and jointed armor make the sea horse resemble a knight in a chess set. It swims weakly, propelled largely by the rapid motion of its dorsal fin. The scales have been replaced by rings of about 50 rectangular bony plates, encasing the body in a semirigid skeleton. The eyes swivel independently or converge to achieve binocular vision.

Its food consists primarily of minute, planktonic crustaceans. These are ingested into a small mouth at the end of a long tubelike snout by a rapid intake of water.

One interesting characteristic of the sea horse is the apparent reversal of the sex roles. The male has a kangaroolike pouch on its ventral side in which the eggs are deposited by the female and held until they hatch. The eggs are fertilized as they enter the pouch, hatching after approximately ten days.

There are more than 30 species of sea horses in warm tropical and temperate seas. They live in shallow waters. Sea horses generally range from 5 to 30 cm (2 to 12 in) in size, although at least one species, H. denise, is much more diminutive.

Large numbers of sea horses are harvested either for the pet trade or for use in traditional Chinese medicine. As a result, six species have been labeled as vulnerable to extinction by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Regulation of trade in sea horses began in 2004.
